Nothing Phone (2a) to Feature MediaTek Density 7200 “Pro” Chipset: New Leaks and Insights

Nothing, the tech upstart led by Carl Pei, is stirring up anticipation once again with its upcoming budget device, the Nothing Phone (2a). While its predecessors relied on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors, the company is breaking tradition by opting for MediaTek’s Dimensity 7200 chipset for this latest offering.

The Dimensity 7200, unveiled approximately a year ago, powers this mid-range device, boasting 5G support and constructed using the same 4nm process as current flagship Android chipsets. However, a notable departure is seen with the chip’s iteration dubbed “Dimensity 7200 Pro,” boasting a familiar 2.8 GHz clock speed but with enhancements purportedly offering a 10% performance boost without any reported electrical issues—a concern specific to the Phone (2a).

Additional features touted with this chipset include the “RAM Booster,” harnessing up to 20GB of storage as memory, and “Smart Cleaning,” promising swift optimization of read/write operations.

Despite earlier statements from Carl Pei suggesting otherwise, recent leaks from reputable sources such as @OnLeaks via SmartPrix confirm the adoption of the Dimensity 7200 Pro chipset in the Nothing Phone (2a). This revelation comes amidst a backdrop of minor controversies, with Pei’s prior assertion contradicted by subsequent leaks, underscoring the dynamic nature of tech developments.
